The Chenille Prickly Pear, aka Red Prickly Pear, is a somewhat upright cactus with height to 3 feet tall and generally a 4 feet spread when mature. Stems are jointed into circular fleshy greenish pads. Pads are uniquely covered with areoles containing a dense array of brown glochids and no spines. Flowers are a brilliant apricot vermillion color. Highly tolerant of desert heat.
